Tullahoma may be a small town, but it offeres many amenities for those looking to move to the area.  Tullahoma is located approximately 70 miles south east of Nashville, and about an hour so north east of Chattanooga and north of Huntsville, Al. HISTORY

The city of Tullahoma began as a railroad camp during the construction of the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis railway: it was Chartered in 1852. We celebrated our 150th anniversary as a city in 2002.  Since it was chartered, Tullahoma has been a heath resort, a steadily growing industrail center, the site of a large infantry training center (Camp Forrest) during World war II, and now, headquarters fo the world's larges aeronautical research project - Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC). Center. 

In 1949 Camp Forrest was selected as the site of the multi-million dollar Arnold Enginering Development  This permanent aeronautical research testing center has brought thousands of new residents, including scientists, engineers, skilled technicians and their families to Tullahoma from all over the world.

 

EDUCATION

The citizens of Tullahoma are proud of the educational opportunities provided by Tullahoma City Schools. A varied curriculum is offered at all education levels designed to meet students needs. Courses for the college-bound student include advanced placement and honors classes in mathematics, the sciences, accounting, computers and foreign languages. Students ACT and SAT scores for college entrance consistently exceed the state and national average and five students have achieved perfect ACT or SAT scores since 1999. The Tullahoma School System has piloted a career services program that will allow all students access to workplace experiences, including non-paid shadowing and mentorship, and the Marine Corps ROTC program.

The success of the graduates is not only the result of an excellent secondary program, but is indicative of the total educational spectrum from kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Curriculum includes excellent music and athletic departments, and the system also provides homebound services, speech and hearing services, classes for both educable and severely mentally retarded, Chapter 1 reading, tutoring and a Creating Educational Opportunities (C.E.O.) program where industries and individuals provide time, effort and funds to enhance the curriculum in Tullahoma.

Kindergarten is provided in the public school system and there is a School Age Care Program Program "Kool Kids", for children before and after school hours, available at all elementary schools and West Middle School.

Tullahoma has four elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school -- the pupil teacher ratio is 20 to 1 and 65% - 70% of high school graduates go on to secondary training.

Tullahoma also has a private parochial school, St. Paul the Apostle, a Catholic school with grades K-12.
